River Licence:
All boats using the River Severn are required to have a current British
Waterways License.
Members are individually responsible for obtaining a license and, if required, this fee can be included with your membership fees and the Club Treasurer will make the necessary application on your behalf.
Member Subscriptions
Admission is normally via ordinary membership; there are special arrangements for other categories of members. For financial purposes Ordinary Members are divided into three categories;
23 years or over Single and Family Members
18-22 For members between the ages of 18 and 22 on the 1st January
under 18. For members under the age of 18 on the 1st January
There are three fees and subscriptions; the initial admission fee, the annual subscription, and (for boat owners) the annual subscription for each registered boat. For Current rates see Subscription Table
All members of the same family may alternatively be covered by one family membership subscription. For all purposes other than subscriptions each member of a family is reckoned an individual member of the Club.
Existing members of pensionable age may apply to the General Committee, through the Honorary Secretary, to become a Senior Members who enjoy a lower rate of subscription.
Annual subscriptions are due on 31st January. Normally a small discount is allowed on subscriptions paid by this date. Members whose subscriptions are unpaid after 31st March may be excluded from the Club. New members joining after 31st July are required to pay a subscription of half the current annual fee.
Family Membership
Family membership is available for two adults and any number of children under 18 residing at the same address. Family and single members who register more than one boat may pay a reduced fee equivalent to the under 18 fee for second and subsequent boats. A British Waterways board license fee is payable for each boat sailed from the club.
Single Membership
For single members over the age of 22 on 1st January
Under 18 Membership
Members under the age of 18 on the 1st January, are eligible to sail as JUNIORS this season. Junior points races will be held on Sundays, as shown in the Sailing Programme. Points will be awarded to the helmsman irrespective of the boat being sailed, for these races Juniors may be crewed by adults. Races will be held for the Dick and Junior Trophies during Avon Week. The sailing committee is keen to encourage Topper dinghies for youngsters and races will be arranged.
Associate Membership
An associate member must be a member of another club that
is a recognized club and must be resident outside a radius of 50
miles from Chaceley Stock
For members of other sailing clubs located greater than a 50 radius from
the Avon sailing Club. This membership type is also offered to members
attending University or College
Senior Membership
Is is not possible to join the club as a senior, however after 1 year as a full member, the member may apply to the committee for Senior membership provided they are in receipt of a Pension.
Boat Registration
Before using the facilities of the Club every boat must be registered with the Committee and the appropriate boat subscription paid. The Clubs preferred Classes are the International ENTERPRISE, National TWELVE FOOT and the National SOLO class, but boats of other classes are eligible for registration and race in the Handicap Class. There are no limits to the number of boats in any of these classes, the Club is keen to encourage the International TOPPER class for youngsters.
Visitors
Members bringing guests should enter their names in the Visitors Book in the Clubhouse. No person may be introduced as a guest of a member on more than 4 days in the year. No member may introduce more than 2 visitors on any one day.
